prized possession??

When asked to write on an object so precious to me that I’d label it as my “prized possession,” the first thing that comes to my mind is my scratched-up, LG, cellular phone from Verizon Wireless. This mobile device is more than an accessory, but an absolute necessity in my life being that I’m across the country from my family, friends, and foes in beautiful southern California. I really do miss them like crazy and my cell phone is my way of communicating with them and sharing through an imaginary, perhaps invisible wire, all my emotions. Sure one may say that a computer could provide me with the same, if not better technical connection, but there’s just something I love about having my cell phone to my ear and walking around as I speak on it. I can seriously be on the phone for hours and hours till the time all four batteries are out and I need to recharge. Oh and let me say this as well: I’m not really picky when it comes to phones as long as it does its job of allowing me to talk to the people I love. I really don’t mind my scratched-up LG. I mean it isn’t an I-phone with internet connection and a several mega pixeled- camera but it sure is what is supposed to be: my connection to the outer world.
Hearing a person’s voice is better than reading what a person types. Compared to Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, or AOL Instant Messenger, my cellular device rocks. When using a chat box online, and receiving and sending typed messages back and forth to a person, there isn’t as much joy as when hearing a person’s beautiful voice on a phone. Typed messages show no emotions and so one really can’t tell the actual feelings or expression a person has when talking to them in a chat box. Whereas on the phone, sure one may not be able to see a person’s facial expression, but if you really know that person, vocal sounds are enough for you to tell what that person is really thinking. One should prefer a phone for communication, even a scratched-up, LG cell phone from Verizon Wireless over an instant messenger on a computer.
